It’s pretty rare that I photograph maternity sessions but I just couldn’t say no to a previous wedding client and now friend. Anne and Derek wedded in October of 2009 at the Holy Ghost Church with celebrations that followed at Mile High Station in Denver, Colorado. I was able to capture many beautiful moments of her family and his throughout the celebrations.
Fast forward a few years. . . .
A few months ago Anne shared the awesome news that they were expecting. She then excitedly told me she wanted to do a photo session together and she had some great ideas. I was instantly interested, and was beyond flattered that Anne had asked me to be part of another big moment in their lives. We had an amazing time during our studio session. A lot of it was spent giggling as we all worked together. We played around with lighting, many different outfits, and spent the majority of the studio time taking sexy boudoir-inspired photos of Anne. (Sorry kids, she didn’t want me to share those, but I can promise they are stunning photos of a stunning expecting mother). After a few hours in the studio, we met up on location with Derek to photograph the two of them together.
Everyday I am reminded of how lucky I am to have such kick ass clients! I am ever so thankful I had the opportunity to work with Anne and Derek during another huge milestone. Anne, you personally helped me get over my fear and hesitancy of working with expectant moms with your comforting laugh, and willingness to be patient as I found my groove. You also helped me learn what to do, and what not to do when posing a client with a big baby bump. You may have even inspired me to work on more maternity sessions in the future. Cheers to you two, and to many more happy photo sessions together!
A special thanks to Toni Carroll, Anne’s stylist and helper, of Blondies the Beauty Shop for being there during the shoot.
I would like to congratulate (yet again), Anne and Derek on the arrival of their beautiful, and healthy, baby girl named Alana.
