Tara & Dusty – A Wedding in Palisade, Colorado

When we all first met at my awesome studio in the RiNo neighborhood, we hit it off right away. The conversation flowed easily, we laughed, and a friendship flourished immediately. I was ecstatic when I got the news that they wanted to move forward with hiring me as their wedding photographer!

Tara and Dusty met on June 2nd, 2011 at her best friends wedding where her best friend was getting married to Dusty’s brother. Their first date was on October 12th, 2011. As time passed and their love grew, they engaged on May 22nd, 2014 when Dusty took a knee. These two tied the knot on May 29th, 2015- as close to the anniversary of their engagement as they could.

Tara and Dusty wanted something different for their wedding day. They didn’t want a true destination wedding and they also didn’t want a wedding in the city or any other expected venues throughout Denver and its suburbs. They envisioned a shabby-chic vibe with a romantic flare adorned in hints of coral, sage and beige. They chose the Maison la Belle Vie Winery in Palisade, Colorado to host their big day. The venue is owned by John Barbier who is also the onsite chef of this charming venue. This romantically rustic winery is about 3.5 hours southwest of Denver on the Western Slope, where the lands are commonly referred to as the wine country, cherry country, peach country and a small town just up the road celebrates Mike the headless chicken. It is a place in Colorado that is incredibly underrated.

They wanted photographs that embodied the feel of their wedding day, captured their friends and family candidly, and posed photos that felt natural, fun, and vibrant. This sort of style is what I excel at. I love capturing candid moments that feel organic and not forced.

Tara and Dusty, your wedding was simply gorgeous. Thank you both for having me in Palisade as your wedding photographer. I loved working on all these photos. Honestly, there are so many phenomenal images that encompass their day it was a bit tricky to select the ones I wanted to showcase in this post. Cheers to you both and many more happy years together!

~In non-wedding related news – I sadly have been priced out of the RiNo area and my killer office space since our meeting last year.~
